The LNS is a public institution established by the law of 7 August 2012 and operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Health in Luxembourg. Organized as a multidisciplinary institute, its four scientific departments and two diagnostic centers include services and units related to the fields of morphological and molecular pathology, genetics, medical biology, microbiology, Forensic medicine and health protection.

We are currently looking for a Data Protection Officer Assistant (DPO Assistant) (m/f), reporting to the Data Protection Officer (DPO), for a fixed-term contract of one year on a full-time basis (40h/week).

Responsibilities

The DPO Assistant will work closely with the DPO to develop and ensure LNS’s compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Act of 1st August on the organization of the National Data Protection Commission and the general data protection framework.

The main tasks of the DPO Assistant are as follows :

  • Maintain and update the LNS’s register of processing activities;
  • Assist the DPO in developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures;
  • Review contracts (e.g., DPA);
  • Collaborate with the DPO in the event of data breaches and the exercise of data subjects’ rights;
  • Collaborate with administrative and scientific services to carry out data protection impact assessments (DPIAs);
  • Measure potential discrepancies between the establishment’s practices and the legal obligations set by the GDPR or the law in terms of personal data whether in existing processing or processing projects;
  • Analyze the needs of the laboratory’s different services (administration & medical services) in terms of training related to personal data protection;
  • Contribute to the implementation of new tools and methods to facilitate data processing in compliance with regulations.

Profile

  • Master’s degree in law preferably with an option related to data protection;
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience;
  • Certification in data protection would be considered as an asset;
  • Solid knowledge and experience in data protection;
  • Solid knowledge of information technology, law and specific healthcare legislation;
  • Capacity to work autonomously;
  • Demonstrate objectivity, impartiality, integrity and discretion;
  • Have a critical and analytical mind, and respect confidentiality;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate authority and diplomacy when necessary;
  • Fluency in English and French is essential; knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish would be considered as an asset.
