The M&G group has had a presence in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg since 2002. Although the office started as a Real Estate investment company, it has recently expanded its activities to a whole range of regulated products and services. 

Role purpose

Supporting the Head of Regulatory Development and Implementation, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the ManCo’s Compliance team with responsibility for overseeing the horizon scanning and Compliance regulatory development and implementation activities.

This is a new role within a developing business model. The role holder will  need to be flexible and proactive in order to develop and maintain a regulatory development model and a proper implementation of regulatory requirements for the ManCo and its EU branches and subsidiary network as part of the broader international regulatory development operating model.

Key responsibilities

Day to day management

Responsible for the delivery and management of a range of activities including:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to first line colleagues and senior management in advising, overseeing and assisting in their responsibilities for compliance with regulatory obligations, by working collaboratively and providing robust challenge;
  • Provision of general compliance support to the Compliance team as required ;
  • Enhancement and maintenance of the regulatory development model for the ManCo and the EU branches;
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments, anticipate changes and proactively advise on their impacts;
  • Perform the horizon scanning for ManCo and the EU branches;
  • Actively  and effectively communicate regulatory changes/impacts to key stakeholders;
  • Perform analysis of regulatory requirements/ guidelines to provide overview and insights to key stakeholders;
  • Offer expert regulatory advice to ensure proper understanding of regulatory requirements;
  • Provision of technical support to and participation in Group and local regulatory change projects;
  • Preparation of Regulatory Traceability Matrices for regulatory change projects;
  • Contribute to the implementation phase of the regulatory change projects to ensure that the actions aligned with Lux specificities;
  • Be involved in the preparation and delivery of regular Compliance reporting;
  • Provision / preparation of MI (management information) reporting to ManCo and Fund boards and other internal governance fora;
  • Provision of comprehensive compliance trainings programs to enhance awareness and understanding of key regulatory developments and compliance obligations across the entity;
  • Ensure employees are informed about their responsibilities regarding the applicable laws and regulations;
  • Representation at Group regulatory forums, at fund boards, and any other relevant committees

Requirements & Experience

Knowledge & Competencies

  • University degree (or equivalent qualification)
  • Strong Compliance or Legal experience (min 5-8 years) in the asset management industry, at a law firm, or a Big 4;
  • Strong technical knowledge of EU regulatory framework including UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID rules. Good understanding of ESG regulatory developments;
  • Strong ability to analyse and interpret rules and published guidance from the EU regulators and other relevant bodies;
  • Demonstrates a professional knowledge of the Luxembourg legal and regulatory framework;
  • Extensive regulatory, compliance and working knowledge of asset management and experience in regulatory implementation.

Personal Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, fluency in other European languages (specifically French, German, Spanish or Italian)
