Company description

Ogier provides practical advice on a unique combination of six laws: BVI, Cayman, Guernsey, Irish, Jersey and Luxembourg. Our global network covers Asian, European and US time zones.

In a rapidly evolving marketplace legal advice needs a flexible approach. Smooth, efficient, quiet service for the daily running of businesses, with serious power and finesse at times when activities deviate from the norm. Our business model is structured to meet individual needs. We are lawyers to the world’s leading financial institutions, professional advisers, regulatory bodies and high net worth individuals.

Our future leaders work closely with partners and clients and help to shape what we do and how we do it – our latest opportunity in our Luxembourg Corporate team is the perfect platform for success.

Key Responsibilities

As an office, we have grown rapidly from strength to strength, and enable Ogier to provide fully integrated advice on both Luxembourg and offshore laws and structures.  Our team advises in English, French and German and with 4 of our Luxembourg partners recognised as "recommended lawyer" by Legal 500, you know you'll be in good company.

You will be expected to provide technically sound legal advice directly to clients with appropriate supervision from more senior fee earners and to take ownership of simple transactions from end to end.  You will also be liable for managing your own financial tasks including time recording, billing, WIP and debt, ensuring clients are fully informed as to the fees and disbursements that will be incurred on each matter and provide updates as required, engaging appropriate cash collection procedures to ensure fees are collected in a timely manner.

At Associate level you will also begin to provide input to partners and begin to develop negotiating skills in the preparation of new matter fee estimates and quotes. Staying up to date with new legislation and topics of interest in the relevant markets and how these changes affect clients and matters is also key.

Other tasks include assisting with the orientation of new joiners and interns and developing strong relationships with immediate team members.

We want individuals who are open to change as you will also have the opportunity to trial new ways of working and supervise on the implementation of continuous improvement for the benefit of the team and firm overall.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

We’re particularly interested in Lawyers with 3 years' experience after admission to the Bar in Luxembourg or another EU jurisdiction.

We are looking for a driven candidate who is motivated to develop and progress within a collaborative and forward thinking environment. If you've got a broad Corporate background and a desire to progress then this could be for you.

Strong academics and solid Legal experience are important. You'll also need fluency in written and spoken English and French.
