Your role

You will:

  • Conduct independent research in the above-mentioned fields and contribute to the Department’s and Faculty’s research strategy, in particular on sustainability: environmental, social and institutional
  • Publish high-quality scientific work in internationally recognised outlets and participate in editorial or scientific committees where appropriate
  • Identify and secure external research funding, prepare competitive funding applications and manage research projects
  • Organise and contribute to scientific events, e.g., conferences, workshops, seminars, at national and international level
  • Teach public law at Bachelor and Master levels, in particular public economic and financial law, parliamentary law and legal methodology
  • Supervise Master’s theses and, subject to obtaining the ADR, supervise doctoral candidates and contribute to doctoral training
  • Engage in knowledge transfer and outreach activities and develop professional networks with public institutions and other stakeholders in Luxembourg and abroad

The Research Scientist will join the Department of Law (FDEF) and the research area Public and Tax Law. The position focuses on research and teaching in European and Luxembourg public economic and financial law, monetary law, economic regulation, parliamentary law and legal philosophy.

Your profile

  • PhD in Public Law obtained at least 5 years ago, with a strong academic record and proven capacity for independent research
  • Solid expertise in European and Luxembourg public economic and financial law, in particular public finance, monetary law and economic regulation; additional expertise in parliamentary law and/or legal philosophy is a strong asset
  • Strong track record of publications in recognised peer‑reviewed journals and collective volumes
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, leading and managing research projects, including successful applications for external funding
  • Teaching experience in public economic law at Bachelor and/or Master level in higher education; ability to teach several areas of public law, e.g. public economic and financial law, parliamentary law, methodology, and to supervise Master’s theses and participate in examination boards
  • Marked interest in interdisciplinarity and in collaboration with other disciplines and non‑academic partners; commitment to knowledge transfer and public outreach
  • Good IT skills, in particular for the conception and management of open‑access or open‑edition publication platforms; strong organisational skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, and motivation to contribute to the strategic development of the Department of Law and the Faculty
  • Experience with research assessment exercises and research evaluation schemes

Language requirements:The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual and multicultural context.
