Role/Department:

The compliance team of Northern Trust Global Services SE is in charge of:

Identifying, mapping and assessing the impacts of new regulations on financial services;

  • Building and conducting a monitoring plan on an annual basis;
  • Provide advisory to the business on regulatory topics;
  • Coordinating and following-up on correspondence with competent authorities in Luxembourg and across branches;
  • Reporting to governance forums and competent authorities on compliance topics.

Northern Trust Global Services SE is a credit institution supervised by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier in Luxembourg. It provides custody, depositary fund administration and capital markets services. NTGS SE is also preparing an extension of its scope of services to banking during the course of 2026.

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer of Northern Trust Global Services SE, the Senior Consultant Compliance will contribute to the maintenance of the compliance risk assessment of NTGS SE. He or she will contribute to the execution of the compliance monitoring plan of this legal entity and will be in charge of the issue tracking of compliance findings. This Senior Consultant Compliance should also assess the impacts of new financial service regulations, and be responsible of preparing compliance reports to different governance forums. This role is likely to evolve due to a broader reorganization of the compliance department of Northern Trust Global Services SE.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • In-depth knowledge of the regulations relating to payments covering specifically PSD2, SEPA, including instant credit transfer & the related EPC rulebooks, and the cross-border payments regulation;  
  • Good knowledge of the EU CRD and CRR;
  • Overall understanding of the Luxembourg asset servicing and banking industry;
  • Support the business development through solution-driven analysis mitigating compliance risks;
  • Challenge the business on their compliance risks and act as an independent 2nd line of defence;
  • Contribute efficiently and timely to the compliance program of NTGS SE;
  • Maintain an analytical and synoptic mindset;
  • Proven experience in compliance monitoring and testing.

Skills/Qualifications:

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Experience in a compliance function of an organization providing asset and banking services;
  • Understanding of the regulations around data protection and banking secrecy;
  • Understanding of the requirements deriving from intra-group outsourcing and third-party risk management;
  • Experience relating to the completion of compliance risk assessments and monitoring plans.
