Diogo Duarte de Oliveira, a well-regarded tax lawyer in Luxembourg and previously Tax Partner at CMS DeBacker Luxembourg, joins the Luxembourg office of the leading Benelux law firm Stibbe. Diogo serves clients that are principally located in France, Southern Europe, Africa, and Latin-America. His expertise will expand significantly the geographic coverage of Stibbe's Luxembourg tax practice. Diogo will work closely with tax Head of Practice Ayzo van Eysinga and Tax Partner Paul Tulcinsky, as well as the Corporate, Banking, and Funds teams.
Stibbe's eight-lawyer tax practice in Luxembourg has been involved in several cross-border, big-ticket deals since its inception two and a half years ago. Having Diogo on board thereby increasing the office's head count is a natural development that reflects Stibbe's continuously leading market position in Luxembourg for transactional and institutional tax restructuring.
Commenting on his move, Diogo said, "I am thrilled to join the market-leading firm Stibbe. I look forward to contributing my expertise to the team that is already strongly in place. In a relatively short period of time, Stibbe has built up an excellent market reputation in Luxembourg, and I will do my utmost to develop that even further."
Diogo is a member of the Portuguese and Luxembourg Bars, and he holds law degrees from Portugal, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Diogo started his career at a well-known law firm in Lisbon.
Jan Peeters, Managing Partner of Stibbe Brussels, comments: "With the hire of Diogo-together with the hire of corporate Belgian partners Stefan Odeurs and Dries Hommez last month-Stibbe is proud to maintain its position as the leading Benelux firm. We are pleased to attract such top talent in Europe."
Speaking about this new appointment, Dirk Leermakers, Executive Partner of Stibbe Luxembourg, said, "Having a well-rounded tax practice in Luxembourg is crucial for the success of any law firm in Luxembourg. With Diogo's arrival, we are enhancing our tax offering and expanding our geographical reach. His practice fully complements our existing tax practice."
