With the bill of law n° 6471 (hereafter the "Bill of Law"), Luxembourg intends to quickly implement into Luxembourg law the Directive 2011/61 of the European Parliament and the Council of 8 June 2011 on alternative investment funds managers (hereafter the "AIFMD").
The law (hereafter the "Law") that will implement the AIFMD should be adopted before the end of this year. Therefore, as from its entry into force, every new Alternative Investment Funds Manager (hereafter an "AIFM" and "AIFMs" in plural) shall comply with this Law. However, alternative investment funds (hereafter "AIFs" and an "AIF" in singular) which already exist will benefit from an extended transitional period of one year to comply with this Law.
