Belgian law firm Liedekerke is pleased to announce today the appointment of partners Alexandre Emond and Etienne Kairis as co-managing partners, effective 1 July 2023.
Alexandre Emond and Etienne Kairis succeed Vincent Busschaert, who was appointed Managing Partner in January 2013 and who will return to full-time law practice in the firm’s premier employment group as of 1 July 2023.
Alexandre Emond who joined Liedekerke in 2003, has been a Partner within the Real estate practice since 2013, a practice which is one of the most highly respected in Brussels and a clear leader on the market. Very experienced in handling transactional mandates, contentious matters and development projects, he has been singled out time and again by clients for his “profound market knowledge” and for being “an excellent dealmaker and a skilful negotiator” while peers praise him for being “highly competent and always one step ahead in terms of strategy in negotiations”.
Etienne Kairis joined the firm as a Partner in 2014 and heads the IP / IT / Data protection practice in Brussels. His team is one of a handful in the Belgian market to handle the full gamut of advisory, con- tentious, and transactional matters for clients in the intellectual property, information technology, data protection and media domains. With over 20 years of experience in commercial law with a focus on distribution law, fair trade practices, intellectual property law, and IT law, Etienne has developed a particular expertise and reputation in the automotive sector. Peers have described him as a “tough but amenable litigator” while clients recommend him as a “very cooperative, excellent lawyer”.
Etienne and Alexandre commented:
“On behalf of Liedekerke’s lawyers and staff, we would like to express our profound gratitude for Vin- cent’s stewardship as Managing Partner and his major contribution to Liedekerke’s success over the past ten years. We are thrilled to lead the firm through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead and ensure that Liedekerke keeps on delivering on the legal excellence, innovative thinking and cut- ting-edge service delivery that our clients have rightfully come to expect.”
François Tulkens, Chairman of Liedekerke, added:
“I am very proud of what has been achieved by our firm under the management of Vincent Busschaert since he started back in 2013 and am very grateful to him. I wish to sincerely thank Vincent, and wish him well with his return to full-time law practice. Both Etienne and Alexandre are excellent lawyers, problem solvers and hold the confidence of the firm’s clients. Together they can give Liedekerke the boost and strategic drive to cope with the current complex, fast-changing and competitive environment.
I am looking forward to working with them and I wish them well in their endeavours to grow the business to new heights."
