Technology and data privacy specialist Richard Cumbley has been appointed Global Practice Head (GPH) of Linklaters’ Technology, Media and Telecommunications & Intellectual Property practice. The role is effective immediately.
Richard, a partner at Linklaters since 2007, and who has previously held the position of TMT & Business Services sector head, has over 15 years’ experience in outsourcing and contentious and non-contentious information governance issues. He has particular expertise in advising large multi-nationals on complex international data protection and information management issues.
He has recently led teams advising Barclays Bank, Deloitte, Hyatt Hotels and BT and the administrators of Lehman Brothers on domestic and international data protection and information governance projects including the implementation of binding corporate rules.
Richard also has extensive experience in a mixture of commercial and regulatory IT work, including IT procurement and outsourcing. He has advised a series of clients on IT related issues including PwC, British Gas, JPMorgan Chase, RBS, KPMG and Sainsbury’s.
