LILLA's First Anniversary

LILLA – Ladies in Law Luxembourg a.s.b.l. – the first network of its kind, bringing together women in the legal sector in Luxembourg - has celebrated its first anniversary by holding a drinks reception in the evening sunshine on 20 June 2018. Kindly hosted by Allen & Overy, the event brought together LILLA members and supporters - both male and female - of the LILLA association to celebrate LILLA’s first year and to look forward to the year ahead.

Since its launch in June 2017, LILLA a.s.b.l. has expanded significantly, from a working group composed of ten committed female lawyers, to over 150 members, including 6 corporate members (Allen & Overy, BGL, D.Law, Hogan Lovells, Loyens & Loeff and Stibbe) hailing from a wide variety of legal backgrounds, nationalities and positions within the Luxembourg legal sector.

LILLA’s strategic goals are to connect women in the legal field, to develop and train its members and to, more generally, promote and represent the interests of women in the Luxembourg legal sector. On this front, LILLA has already established strategic partnerships with local and European associations and networks – like Women in Digital Empowerment (WIDE) in Luxembourg and European Women Lawyers Association (EWLA), to further the impact of its work. On a day-to-day level, sharing the common goal of enhancing the position and impact of women in the legal profession in Luxembourg, LILLA’s members meet at regularly held LILLA events to share their experiences of legal practice in Luxembourg, to discuss ideas and to support each other’s career development.

At the outdoor after-work party, LILLA’s president, Marine Tarditi, confirmed the importance of LILLA’s strategic goals and the association’s aspirations for the future: “We are pleased, through LILLA, to be facilitating the sharing of women’s knowledge and experience of working in the Luxembourg legal field, and to be supporting them in attaining their professional goals. LILLA’s mission is to “inspire women [in the Luxembourg legal field] to rise” and we are very much looking forward to furthering LILLA’s work towards this goal in the coming year in collaboration with our members.”

Larissa Best, Executive Director of EQUILIBRE and President of the Luxembourg Business Angel Network (LBAN) was a special guest at the event and addressed the audience with an inspiring speech about the importance of networking and having role models we can all relate to. “We must show our own truth and our own struggles; who we really are. We must show ourselves as people others can relate to. Only together can we find the solutions.

LILLA invites all women working within the legal profession – whatever their current position or title - or their employers through corporate membership, to join the association to benefit from the work of this unique and inspiring organisation and to help shape its future.
