CMS Luxembourg 2021 appointments and new joiners

CMS Luxembourg is pleased to announce the appointments of two Senior Counsels and one Counsel, and the promotions of five lawyers to Managing and Senior Associate positions effective from 1 February 2021. The appointments, combined with the arrivals of nine new team members, including seven lawyers over the past few months, will significantly strengthen our practices and reflect the firm’s development strategy.

Banking & Finance

Aure╠ülia Vie╠ümont has been appointed Senior Counsel. She joined CMS in 2019 and has since then led our regulatory practice. She has more than 10 years’ experience advising financial institutions such as credit institutions, investment firms, payment institutions and fintech companies on all types of regulatory matters.

The team also continues its growth on the transactional side with the appointment of Zornitsa Dimitrova as Counsel. She has 10 years’ experience advising clients on the full spectrum of Banking & Finance matters, including secured and unsecured lending transactions, acquisition finance, debt restructuring, and security and guarantee packages.

Finally, Sarah Hantscher has been promoted to Managing Associate. She advises financial institutions such as credit institutions, investment firms, payment institutions and fintech companies on all types of regulatory matters.

Dispute Resolution

Hugo Arellano has been appointed Senior Counsel. He joined CMS in 2015 and now heads our Dispute Resolution and Employment practice. He specialises in litigation related to commercial, civil and employment law.

The team is further strengthened by the hire of Liza Curteanu as Senior Associate. She has more than five years’ experience advising clients on both pre-contentious and contentious matters in Luxembourg. Her arrival closely follows the recruitments of Leslie Ledrich and Philippe Ludovissy, both at associate level.

Tax

Alejandro Dominguez joined the team on 15 February 2021 as Senior Associate. He has more than eight years’ experience in corporate taxation. His arrival follows the promotion of Pierre George, who joined CMS in 2019, to Managing Associate and precedes the arrival, on 1 March, of Ge╠üraldine Pechine as Senior Associate. Ge╠üraldine has more than 10 years’ experience, acquired both in France and in Luxembourg, and focuses on tax structuring and merger and acquisition projects involving multinational groups.

Our team also strengthened its capacities with the hire of Delphine Danhoui as Professional Support Lawyer. Delphine has more than 10 years’ experience in Luxembourg advising clients on corporate tax and international tax planning in the context of cross-border transactions and reorganisations. She also has experience in assisting private clients in wealth tax planning and estate structuring.

Investment Funds

Building on its development in 2020, our Investment Funds team keeps growing with the promotion of Stéphane Boutoundou to Senior Associate. He joined CMS in 2016 and specialises in the structuring of investment funds. He is also an active member of our German desk.

We can also announce the promotion to Managing Associate of Claire Koob, who is a trusted and active member of our team and also part of our German desk, as well as the hire of Harrison Dans as Managing Associate. Harrison has more than four years’ experience working in the investment funds team of tier 1 Luxembourg firms.

Corporate/M&A

Angélique Eguether has been promoted to Managing Associate. She joined CMS in 2019 and is part of our Corporate/M&A and Private Equity department. The team also welcomed Mathilde Barthélémy as Associate at the end of 2020.
