Greenfield is pleased to be representing one of the world’s largest banks working with a wide range of businesses, from growing and established corporates to multinationals with a global footprint. To support their Compliance Team, they are looking for a Data Protection Officer (m/f). The successful candidate will inform, advise and issue recommendations to the bank regarding General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

• Encourage the development of a Data protection culture within the organization and assist in implementing the key elements of GDPR: data processing, data subjects’ rights, data protection by design and by default, records of processing activities, etc.;

• Keep the bank abreast on its obligations under GDPR or any other relevant European data protection laws and advise on how to implement them;

• Monitor the compliance aspects with GDPR or any other relevant European data protection laws and amend the company policies accordingly;

• Advise on the necessity to carry out a data protection impact assessment;

• When required, build a methodology to carry out the above;

• Assess whether this should be carried in-house or outsourced;

• Assess the safeguards measures (technical and organizational) to apply with the view to mitigate any risks on the rights and interests of the data subjects;

• Evaluate the efficiency of the data protection impact assessment against the GDPR;

• Ensure the processing/control operations are effectively and efficiently recorded by the controller or the data processor;

• Be a point of contact for the relevant local regulators;

• Document all decisions taken and assess as to whether they’re consistent or contrary to your recommendations;

• Advise on data breach or other data incident when they occur.

• Law degree (Luxembourg, France and/or UK preferred);

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a law firm (banking or finance) or in-house counsel;

• Strong expertise in national/European data protection laws and best practices;

• Sound grasp of GDPR;

• Integrity and high professional ethics;

• Relevant understanding on processing operations, information systems, data security and data protection in a banking environment;

• Fluent in English and French (written and spoken), German is a plus;

• Strong oral and written communication and negotiation skill;

• Ability to work in an international environment.
